- 2 cups fresh basil
- 1 cup fresh Italian parsley
- 1/2 cup Parmesan or romano cheese, grated
- 1/2 cup pine nuts, toasted
- 4 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons water
Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender. Puree until the mixture forms a smooth, thick paste.
* I then saute it with alfredo sauce and chicken and pour it over penne noodles.
