White Castle restaurants started in 1921 in the midwest and are known for their small square slider burgers. They are responsible for the fast food phenomenon. A&W restaurants also started in 1921 and are known for their draft root beer and root beer floats. I remember my parents taking us to both when we did our long road trips. Tonight at work, our potluck theme was throwback drive-thru foods and we cooked up White Castle burgers and made root beer floats. It was a fun night and puts a little ease on our long work weeks.
