Tonight I went to Obadiah Parker’s CD release party of The Tip Jar, Vol. II at Kazimierz World Wine Bar (one of my favorites for late night music). Mat has been a long time friend and I’ve been attending his shows for years. The new EP is great so check it out!

First Friday
Tonight I went down to downtown Phoenix for the First Friday Artwalk. Now the weather is cooling off, it’s the perfect time to go. I stopped at the Phoenix Art Museum first to check out a photo exhibit. Then I stopped at one of my favorite Starbucks locations to get a hot Pumpkin Spice Latte – one of my favorite Fall drinks. With my hot drink in hand, I headed down to Roosevelt Row to look at some art. Then it was on to New City Studio with my friends Juliana and Marco to see some artwork by Isaac Caruso and Noelle Martinez. I also ran into some old friends of mine – Kenisa, Amy and Jenna and spent time catching up with them. But the real treat was seeing my good buddy Mat Weddle play some of his folk tunes. I had a blast chatting with him and listening to his sweet tunes.
Cool video about downtown Phoenix!
Lux Coffeeshop / Biographical Music and Art at New City
Our night started with getting stuck on Central Rd in downtown Phoenix in a lot of traffic. It was the classic car Cruise on Central car show. Once we finally got to New City church, Christin, Roberta and I walked over to the Lux coffee bar. Lux is an open coffee bar with lots of space and nice furniture (leather chairs) mixed in with some art. Next door is Pane Bianco, one of Chris Bianco’s infamous pizza establishments. I really enjoyed the spacious seating and atmosphere of Lux. They also serve great coffee and are into latte art like most places. I personally have been wanting to get better at making latte art.
The band, Dearspeak had a CD release show over at New City church. They had 6 other bands open for them, including my friend Mat Weddle. It was a night of storytelling as they wanted each of the bands to share the story behind their music. I personally enjoyed Brothersisterband and the guy playing a saw with a violin bow. They also had an artist by the name of “Sentrock” display some of his artwork.
